Machu Picchu Putukusi

Machu Picchu Putukusi is a place that was just discovered that could’ve been part of the Inca Trail.
PUTUKUSI: It means “happy mountain” in quechua, its located 2,560 meters above sea level, the view from the top overlooking the city of Machu Picchu is incredible but it is an hour and half hike up, with this we start our trip to Machu Pichu Putukusi.

Machu Picchu Putukusi 3 Days / 2 Night

DAY 1: MORAY – MARAS – SALINAS – PICHINGOTO – OLLANTAYTAMBO – AGUAS CALIENTES:

Our company Machu Picchu Perú Tours will come pick us up at 8:00 am, so we can then head towards the town of Cruzpata, Machu Picchu Putuski starts by hiking into the archeological sites of Moray and Salinas that are located in the andean areas of Urubamba; on the first hour of hiking we will get to explore the circular and concentric andenes that were used in agricultural experimentation in the Inca times, known as Moray, thus being able to simulate up to 20 different types of microclimates. Subsequently we will continue our hike to the town of Maras to take a small break and have lunch; we continue to hike into the salt flats of Maras, where the salt from salt lakes or salt rivers dried, incorporating the name of many geographical locations where such exploitation was done, that with plots where such work was performed shows us beautiful pictures; after we continue our hike downward to the town of Pichingoto, where we will find some caves at the foot of the mountains or on the same rocks that are preserved by the locals as part of their history; lastly we will cross the Urubamba or Vila Mayu river through a colourful bridge that will guide us to the town of Yanahaura, this is where our transport will be waiting for us to take us to the town of Ollantaytambo where we will board our train to the town of Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu) where we will have lunch, dinner and we will also stay overnight, and with that we conclude our first day of Machu Picchu Putuski.

DÍA 2: MACHU PICCHU PUTUKUSI – MANDOR’S WATERFALLS

On this day we will wake up at 6:30 am to have time to enjoy our breakfast and so then start our 10 min hike to the mountain of Machu Picchu Putukusi:

PUTUKUSI: Putukusi is a place that was just discovered that could’ve been part of the Inca Trail, it means “happy mountain” in quechua, and it is located 2,560 meters above sea level, the view from the top overlooking the city of Machu Picchu is incredible but it is an hour and half hike up, this route is just 10 minutes away from the town of Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu) following the train tracks along the Urubamba river (Vilca Mayu). If we’re unable to perform we will head back to the hotel in Machu Picchu Pueblo and take a soda or any other beverage and enjoy the collection of orchids they have.

MANDOR: Botanical garden at the end of the walk that will give us the opportunity to appreciate the 5 meter waterfall, besides enjoying the benefits of a natural pool at the base of the waterfall; this hike will be approximately 4 hours.

HOT SPRINGS: Located in the same town that has thermal waters; which we will go in the afternoon for a refreshing swim so we can replenish our forces. We will have breakfast, lunch and dinner. And with these we will conclude day 2 of Machu Picchu Putukusi.

DAY 3: VISIT TO THE SANCTUARY OF MACHU PICCHU AND WAYNAPICCHU.

On the day we will wake up really early, and we will start our hike to the historical sanctuary of Machu Picchu and we will explore with the guide tour all the archeological site in between 2 and a half hours to 3 hours; We will be able to visit: The Main Plaza (la plaza principal), the Intihuatana, El cuarto de los morteros, The tire windowed temple (El templo de las tres ventanas), The condor’s temple (El templo del cóndor) and many more of Machu Picchu’s important sites. After we will have enough free time to explore Machu Picchu on your own, we recommend hiking Waynapicchu, the mountain you can see behind every typical Machu Picchu Picture out there, you can hike this at early times in the morning where you will be able to hike the basic route or the expense one where you can appreciate some other Inca constructions like the Moon Temple; You can also hike up to the Sun temple that has a gateway to the Inca Trail. With prior coordination with our guide we will return to the town of Aguas Calientes to enjoy a good meal, you will also have time to go visit the hot springs until 5:30 pm. After we will hop on our train to Ollantaytambo at 7:00 pm, and in Ollantaytambo we will get on a bus back to Cusco. Breakfast and lunch. And with this our tour of Machu Picchu Putuski ends.
