Temple of Qoricancha – It is evident that the Temple of Qorikancha (house of the sun) was the richest in precious metals because here was stored all the gold and silver of all its territory, all these metals that were in this place were delivered in the form of offerings for the Sacred City of the Temple. In the time of the Incas or (Quechuas) all these precious metals had no economic value but religious value, its perfect architecture and stone constructions reflect that it was the most important precinct of the Inca empire.
Sacsayhuaman – The name Sacsayhuaman in Quechua means “satisfied falcon”. It is said that this falcon was the bird that guarded the entire Inca empire. The “ceremonial construction” of Sacsayhuaman has located 2 km from Cusco, in this place is currently celebrated the feast of the sun (Inti Raymi) is every June 24 of each year.
Qenqo – Its name in Quechua means “labyrinth” and is located 6 kilometers from Cusco. This archaeological park was described as an amphitheater since on the outside you can see a semicircular construction. In reality, the purpose of this construction is not known, since there is a ceremonial table, zigzag channels, niches, etc. that could have been used as an altar. It is presumed that it was one of the most important sanctuaries in the Inca period.
Puca Pucara – In Quechua it means “Red Fortress” due to the red color of the rocks, this ancient tambo was a military construction and watchtower for the valley of Cusco and all the Quechua roads, this fortress was built by large walls, stairways and terraces that were part of the defensive complex of the Inca Empire Its construction is of the rustic type made up of streets, houses and courtyards.
Tambomachay – It is located 12 km. from the city, known as the bath of the Inca, by the shape of its water fountains, it could also be an enclosure dedicated to the cult of water, after our visit we return to the city of Cusco.
