Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu 04 days and 03 nights
The Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu 04 days and 03 nights program starts on day 01 with a hike to the Humantay Lake at the foot of the snowy Salkantay, then we will continue through the Salkantay Trek route admiring the flora and fauna of the place; to finally reach Hidroelectrica and from there we will go to the last point of our trek: Machu Picchu.
Machu Picchu Peru Tours will pick up our passengers between 04:15 to 04:45 am. in their respective rooms. The departure of our hike is at 05:00 am.
During our tour in our mobility, we will pass through the towns of Izcuchaca and Limatambo. Arriving at Mollepata at approximately 07:30 am. we will have our first breakfast, then we will start our Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu, reaching Cruzpata, where we will have a short break. We will continue our hike to Soraypampa (first camp) to enjoy our delicious lunch.
In the afternoon, we will go to the mountain of Laguna Humantay, where we will appreciate this beautiful glacier and the lagoon that reflects this place. We will return to our camp in Soraypampa, where we will have dinner and spend the night.
On this second day, we will wake up early to enjoy our breakfast buffet and leave the camp at approximately 07:00 am.
Throughout the journey, we will appreciate the snowy Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu and the different housing constructions of the indigenous people, we will also appreciate their crops and the breeding of their animals, such as the llama, alpaca.
On the Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu, we will arrive at Salkantay Pampa and Collpabamba Valley and have our Buffet lunch.
After lunch, we will continue the trek to the cloud forest at 17500 m.a.s.l. jungle brow, where we will appreciate the varieties of orchids and the formations of rivers and waterfalls of great magnitude. Also, on this day, we can enjoy the majestic snow-capped Apu Salkantay, reaching Chaullay, there awaits our buffet dinner and overnight.
On the third day, you will be in the jungle area. We will wake you up around 6:00 am with a cup of coca tea, then offer you a delicious breakfast.
Around 7:00 am, we will start the hike to Sahuayaco beach for about 5 hours along the Santa Teresa Valley, formed by the Salkantay River.
Along the valley, you could see plantations such as coffee, bananas, avocados, coca plant, passion fruit, and much more. After five hours of walking, you will arrive at La Playa Sahuayaco, from where you will take local transportation for one hour to Santa Teresa.
On Santa Teresa, we will stop for lunch and then continue by car for 45 minutes more to Hidrolectrica and then walk 3 hours more along the train tracks to the town of Aguas Calientes by the flat trail.
Then we will take you to the hotel to shower and relax; in the evening, around 7:00 pm, we will organize a dinner at a restaurant in Aguas Calientes after going to sleep.
Today is the most important day of our trip, we will wake up around 04:30 in the morning, where we will begin our hike to the lost citadel of the Incas, “Machu Picchu.”
We will arrive at the Sanctuary of Machu Picchu at 06:00 am to start our guided tour for approximately 2 hours by the most important places of this archaeological center. After our guided tour, we will have free time to visit the most exciting places and see the mountain of Wayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain (optional).
In the afternoon, we will return to Aguas Calientes, where we will board the train back to Ollantaytambo, where our transportation will be waiting for you to return to the city of Cusco. Thus we will end our Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu.
